Swift and graceful, the Vicuña live high up in South America's Andes Mountains. Her coat is the color of the sun. Soft, light and measuring no more than 13 microns, it's the finest natural fiber in the world.
The Incas called Vicuña fleece The Fiber of the Gods and reserved it for emperors alone.
Poachers saw its value, too and hunted the little camelid to near extinction of less than 5,000. But in the 1980s, the Vicuña population began to flourish and now totals more than 150,000.

A unique partnership with another great brand, Loro Piana, the nearly century-year old Italian fashion house.
Loro Piana acquired 2,000 hectares in the Andes and took the fundamental step towards establishing a natural preserve to further protect the Vicuña while reintroducing her precious fleece to the market.
